Solution

Part 1: Acetic acid (CH3COOH)

  1. A solution of Acetic acid in water is pure vinegar.
  2. Other compounds, such as chemical flavours, may be present in the vinegar we use in our homes.
  3. Vinegar typically has an Acetic acid concentration of 5–8% by volume.
  4. Vinegar has three main applications: food flavouring, pickling, and as an acidic cooking ingredient.

Part 2: Sulphuric acid (H2SO4)

  1. Mineral acids are also employed in direct corrosive applications.
  2. When Barium chloride is treated with Sulphuric acid, it produces Barium sulphate, a white precipitate. As a result, the mineral acid is Sulphuric acid.BaCl2(aq)Bariumchloride+H2SO4(aq)SulphuricacidBaSO4(s)()Bariumsulphate+HCl(aq)Hydrochloricacid

Therefore,

(i) An acid which is present in vinegar - Acetic acid (CH3COOH)

(ii) A dilute mineral acid which forms a white precipitate when treated with Barium chloride solution - Sulphuric acid
