If $f (x) = x^{3} - 3 x^{2} + 3 x - 4$ , find $f (2) + f (- 2)$

Solution

Given $f (x) = x^{3} - 3 x^{2} + 3 x - 4$

Therefore, $f (2) = 2^{3} - 3 (2^{2}) + 3 (2) - 4$

$⟹ f (2) = 8 - 12 + 6 - 4 = 14 - 16 = - 2$

$f (- 2) = (- 2)^{3} - 3 (- 2)^{2} + 3 (- 2) - 4$

$⟹ f (2) = - 8 - 12 - 6 - 4 = - 30$

Therefore, $f (2) + f (- 2) = - 2 - 30 = - 32$
