Solution

Given that x : y = 2 : 5

$∴$ $\frac{x}{y}$ = $\frac{2}{5}$ ............. equation (1)

Since we need to find 3x : 5y = $\frac{3 x}{5 y}$ [1 Mark]

Multiplying both sides of equation (1) by $\frac{3}{5}$ , we have

$\frac{3}{5}$ $\times$ $\frac{x}{y}$ = $\frac{3}{5}$ $\times$ $\frac{2}{5}$

$\frac{3}{5}$ = $\frac{6}{25}$

Hence $3 x : 5 y$ = $6 : 25$ [1 Mark]
