The equivalent circuit when the resistances are x and y is given below
For balanced meter bridge
x20=y80

4x=y

Applying condition for balanced Wheatstone bridge when the resistances are 4x and y is

4xl1=y100l1

1l1=1100l1 (4x=y)

l1=1002=50 cm

Therefore, option (a) is correct.
