In a village, there are 8 water tanks to collect rainwater. On a particular day,$x$ litres of rainwater is collected per tank. If 100 litres of water was already there in one of the tanks, then what is the total amount of water in the tanks on that day?

Number of tanks to collect rainwater = 8

Rainwater collected in each tank $=x$ litres

Total rainwater in all the tanks = Number of tanks $\times$ Rainwater collected in each tank

=$8\times x=8x$

But in the one tank, already 100 litres of water exist.

$\therefore$Total amount of water in all the tanks = 100 + [Total rainwater collected]

$=(100+8x)$ litres
