Question

In an ideal step-up transformer input voltage is 110V and current flowing in the secondary is 10A, if transformation ratio is 10, calculate output voltage, current in primary input power and output power.

Solution

In step-up transformer, transformation ratio (K>1)=N2N1=V2V1=I1I2=10(Given) eq....1
And, V1I1=V2I2 eq.....2
Given V1=110V,I2=10A
Now, using eq.1, V2110=I110=10(Given)
V2=1100V,I1=100A
And, Input power = Output power = V1I1=110×100=11kW
Therefore, output voltage, current in primary ,input power and output power is 110V,100A,11kW,11kW respectively.
