Vaporization is defined as the conversion of a substance from the liquid phase into the gaseous phase. The reverse process i.e. phase transition from gas to liquid is known as condensation.

Sublimation is defined as the transition of a substance directly from the solid to the gas phase without passing through the intermediate liquid phase. The reverse process is known as solidification as gas is turned directly into solid bypassing the stage of liquid.
