= $\frac{1}{2}$$\times$(Sum of parallel sides)$\times$height
= $\frac{1}{2}$$\times$(AB+CE)$\times$AE
= $\frac{1}{2}$$\times$(6+8)$\times$5
= $\frac{1}{2}$$\times$14$\times$5 = 7$\times$5 = 35 $c{m}^2$
