Solution

Mosquito of the genus Anopheles is the vector of malaria. The female a mosquito can puncture the vertebrate skin because of the cutting mouthparts, i.e., the mandibles that are present in females only.

Female Anopheles bites and sucks blood through which malarial parasites enter the mosquito from the patient, and when this mosquito bites a healthy person parasites are transferred into his body. Male mosquitos do not possess mandibles, hence they cannot bite human beings.
