Solution

Step 1. Form the linear equation according to the given information.

Given that the Meena withdraws Rs.2000.

Consider that the number of Rs.50 notes is xand,

The number of Rs.100 notes is y

And total number of notes are 25.

Therefore,

x+y=25...(1)50x+100y=2000...(2)

Step 2. Solve the obtained equation.

Multiply equation (1) with 50:

50x+50y=1250...(3)

Subtract equations (3) from (2):

50x+100y-(50x+50y)=2000-1250100y-50y=75050y=750y=15

Substitute y=15in equation (1)to find x:

x+15=25x=25-15x=10

Hence Meena receives x=10 notes of Rs.50

And y=15 notes of Rs.100

Hence, she received 10 notes of Rs.50 and 15 notes of Rs.100.
