Copper matte is smelted in a Bessemer converter where it undergoes self-reduction to give blister copper.
Both Sn and Zn are extracted by smelting their oxides with a suitable reducing agent like carbon.

In the Hall-Heroult process, concentrated alumina is fused with fluorspar and cryolite. It is then subjected to
electrolytic reduction to extract molten aluminium. Hence, smelting is not involved in the extraction of Al.
