MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is allowed for the pregnant women as it presents no harmful effect to the offspring, as this technique does not use X-ray. MRI technique is usually performed in pregnant women when ultrasound does not give sufficient information regarding the body parts that need to be diagnosed. It is not allowed in the patient with pacemakers due to chances of dangerous interaction between cardiac devices and the radio frequency energy and magnetic field used during MRI. MRI is not performed on a person suffering from a stroke and also on the person who has a metallic plate in the body
