Carbon compounds - Carbon compounds consist of at least one carbon atom which is bonded to an atom of another element. Few examples of carbon compounds are:

  1. Inorganic carbon compounds - silicon carbide [SiC2], calcium carbonate [CaCO3], sodium cyanide[NaCN], graphite, carbon dioxide [CO2], and carbon monoxide [CO] are classified as inorganic.
  2. Organic carbon compounds - glucose[C6H12O6], lactose [C12H22O11], insulin [C257H383N65O77S6], maltose[C12H22O11] are examples of organic carbon compounds which includes carbohydrate, lipoids, nucleic acids and proteins.
