Solution

Blood vessels:

The circulatory system in humans is composed of the heart, blood vessels and lymph vessels. Blood vessels carry blood. There are three types of blood vessels:

  1. Arteries are blood vessels with thick walls and carry blood away from the heart.
  2. Veins are blood vessels with thinner walls and blood from the body towards the heart.
  3. Capillaries are very thin-walled blood vessels. Through their walls, the exchange of molecules takes place between blood and surrounding cells.

Vessels entering the heart

  1. Superior (anterior) vena cava that brings blood from the anterior part of the body to the heart.
  2. Inferior (posterior) vena cava that brings blood from the posterior part of the body to the heart.
  3. Pulmonary veins that bring oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart.

Vessels leaving the heart

  1. Pulmonary arteries that take away deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
  2. Aorta that supplies oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.
  3. Coronary arteries that carry oxygenated blood to the heart muscle.
