Solution

ADH:

  1. ADH is known as the antidiuretic hormone or vasopressin.
  2. ADH is produced in the supraoptic nucleus of the hypothalamus and stored in the posterior pituitary.
  3. ADH is secreted from the posterior pituitary or pars nervosa.
  4. ADH enhances the permeability of the walls of the distal convoluted tubule (DCT) and collecting duct of the nephron, to water.
  5. This causes excess reabsorption of water into kidney capillaries from DCT and the collecting duct of the nephron.

Hence, the hormone that helps increase the reabsorption of water from the kidney tubules is known as ADH or antidiuretic hormone.
