Solution

Cerebral cortex:

  1. The cerebrum constitutes the majority of the brain volume contributing to 83% of the total volume.
  2. It is divided into the right and left cerebral hemispheres connected by the corpus callosum.
  3. The cerebral hemispheres are enclosed in a thin layer of gray matter called the cerebral cortex.
  4. The cerebral cortex has a lot of convolutions and grooves called the gyri and sulci which are responsible for intelligence.
  5. The cerebral cortex also controls voluntary actions such as sight, hearing, and speech.

Hence, the part of the brain associated with intelligence, sight, hearing, and speech is the cerebral cortex.
