Meristematic tissue is responsible for growth in plants.

  1. There are two types of meristematic cells.
  2. They are shoot apical meristem which is responsible for the growth of organs like leaves and flowers and the second one is root apical meristem which is responsible for the further growth of the roots of the plants.
  3. The vertical growth of plants is done by apical meristem.
  4. These tissues increase the length and girth of the plants.
