Observation:- From the below images it can be observed that bulb glows brighter in case 2 as compared to case 1.
Reason I:- Dilute sulphuric acid is a stronger acid than citric acid in lemon.
Reason II:- Strong acid dissociates slowly as compared to weaker acids.
Case I
Case II
Reason I:- True
Reason II:- False
In strong acids, the dissociation of ions is much more as compared to weak acids and this is why dilute sulphuric acid is stronger as compared to citric acid present in lemons.
As zinc is a more reactive metal it loses electrons behind on the metal plate and combines with ions of acids. If more ions are there in the acids means more zinc ions are combining with ions of acids and more electrons are left behind which conduct electricity. This is the reason why bulb in case 2 glows brighter as compared to case 1.
