Solution

Let the number of tickets sold at the rate of Rs 20 be x.
Let the number of tickets sold at the rate of Rs 40 be y.
Now, according to the question, we have:
x + y = 35 ...(1)

Also, 20x + 40y = 900
⇒ 20(x + 2y) = 900
⇒ x + 2y = 45 ...(2)
Subtracting (1) from (2), we get:
x + 2y = 45
x + y = 35
- - -
-------------------
y = 10
Substituting the value of y in (1) and solving for x, we get:
x + 10 = 35
⇒ x = 25
Thus, we have:
Number of tickets sold at the rate of Rs 20 = 25
Number of tickets sold at the rate of Rs 40 = 10
