The boundary of a cheek cell is the cell membrane. This gives a shape to the cell and selectively allows substances to pass through it, in or out of the cell. On the other hand, in the cells of the onion peel, the outer covering is clearer than in cheek cells. It is because there is another layer present over the cell membrane, known as the cell wall.
