Let the monthly income of Mr. Motilal be $Rs.x$

Then the money he expends on house rent$=20$% of $x$

$=Rs.\left(\frac{1x}{5}\right)$

Now the money left with him$=x-\frac{1x}{5}=Rs.\left(\frac{4x}{5}\right)$

Then the money he expends on household expenses$=60$% of $\frac{4x}{5}$

$=Rs.\left(\frac{12x}{25}\right)$

Then according to question $x-\frac{1x}{5}-\frac{12x}{25}$$=$$2520$

Therefore$x=Rs.7875$
