Solution

The correct option is D Pulmonary veins
There are two types of blood vessels in the circulatory system:
  • Arteries: These are the blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood from the heart to different parts of the body. All arteries carry oxygenated blood except the pulmonary artery which carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs.
The oxygenated blood is brought to the right atrium of the heart from where it is sent to the right ventricle and ultimately carried by the pulmonary artery to the lungs.
  • Veins: These are the blood vessels that collect deoxygenated blood from different parts of the body and supply it to the heart. All veins carry deoxygenated blood except the pulmonary vein which carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart.
So, the correct answer is 'Pulmonary veins'.
