a) Why does a doctor administer tetanus antioxide and not a tetanus vaccine to a child Injury in a road accident with a bleeding wound? Explain. b) If a patient is advised Anti retroviral therapy which infection is he suffering from? Name the causative organism.

a) Tetanus antitoxin is given to a patient with accidental injury to reduce the risk of tetanus infection. Tetanus antitoxin neutralises the tetanus toxins if get inside the body of patient due to injury. Tetanus vaccination is a long term process which require time to produce immune response against tetanus toxin and is given to patient as a regular vaccination process and not for instant relief.
b) Anti-retroviral therapy is given in case of infection by HIV or AIDS. Causative organism is HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus).
