While blood cells are also known as the leucocytes. Various types of leucocytes are neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes and monocytes. Monocytes and neutrophils are phagocytes (i.e they digest the foreign cells); eosinophils resist infections; basophils are involved in inflammatory reaction. Lymphocytes are responsible for immune responses.
