In general, herbivores and plants appear to be more adversely affected by competition than carnivores. Why?

If two species compete for the same resource, the competition occurs. It is natural They could avoid competition by choosing different timing for the search for food.

Plants & Herbivores have to compete for the resources. It is limited for them. But Carnivores have enormous choices and hence the competition is less.
