1. Ice floats on water because density of ice is less than that of water.

2. The particles that make up a solid are packed very closely together. In addition, each particle is tightly fixed at one position. This fixed, closely−packed arrangement of particles causes a solid to have a definite shape.

3. When gases are operated under very high pressure and at extremely low temperatures, they get liquefied.
