The function of the heart is to pump oxygenated blood to the various body parts. The deoxygenated blood from different body parts through superior and inferior vena cava reaches right atrium from where it is pumped through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. The blood then enters the lungs via pulmonary circulation and carbon dioxide is exchanged for oxygen. Left atrium collects oxygenated blood from the lungs and moves to the left ventricle via the bicuspid valve. Aorta then pumps it out to the body.
