unable to understsand dalton law of partial pressure

Open in App
Solution

At constant temperature, the total pressure exerted by a mixture of two or more non-reacting gases, enclosed in a definite volume, is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the individual gases.

i.e. if there is a mixture of three gases A,B and C

partial pressure of A= pa

partial pressure of B= pb

partial pressure of C= pc

Total pressure of the mixture(P)= pa+pb+pc
