What is nitric and nitrous acids?
Nitric acid: Chemical formula of nitric acid - HNO3
Nitrous acid: Chemical formula of nitrous acid - HNO2
Out of these two, nitrous acid is weak acid while nitric acid is strong acid.
In the atmosphere, nitrogen is added to soil in this way:
During lightning and thunder, the high temperature and pressure in the air convert atmospheric nitrogen into oxides of nitrogen that can dissolve in water to produce nitric and nitrous acids. These fall along with rain.
