Question

Why gases are compressible but not liquids?

Open in App
Solution

The particles of gases have a lot of space between them due to very weak forces of attraction between them. Thus, gases can be compressed easily whereas the space between the particles of liquids is less and in solids the particles are tightly packed, therefore liquids and solids are not much compressible.
