Please explain this statement. Cochineal insect is used to eliminate opuntia.

Cochineal insects (Dactylopius spp.) attach to the outside of the host plant and (a bit like the way a mosquito works on people) draw the food and moisture out of the plant and help kill it.


This techinque is used to control growth of the plant called Opuntia also called as prickly pear.
