Represent the following information using a linear equation in two variables: Abhay has a hundred rupees with him and he spends the entire amount on 2 items at a sweet shop, the first one costing 3 rupees per piece and the second one costing 4 rupees per piece.

Let the number of pieces bought of the first item be x and that of the second item be y

Then,

Total amount spent on first item = 3x

Total amount spent on second item = 4y

Given that he spent a total of 100 rupees,

3x + 4y = 100

This is the required equation
