Question

Resistance of a 0.1 N KCN solution is 245 Ω. If the electrodes in the cell are 5 cm apart and area having 100 cm2 each, the molar conductance of the solution will be:

Open in App
Solution

Normality, (N)=0.1 NResistance, (R)=245 ΩArea of cross section, (A)=100 cm2Length between the electrodes, (l)=5 cm

For KCl,
n-factor is 1

Molarity, =110 M

As we know that,
Molar conductance, (Λm)=1000×κM
whereas,
κ=Specific conductance

κ=lA×1R

Λm=1000×(lA R)M

Λm=1000×5100×245×0.1

Λm=2.04 S cm2 mol1
