Question

Resistance of Conductivity cell when filled with a solution of electrolyte of concentrated 0.1M is 100 ohms and conductivity of this solution is 1.2sm1 when some cell is filled with 0.2M of the same solution; resistance of solution is 500 ohm. Calculate molar conductivity of 0.2M solution.

Solution

We know, K=K×G
K=K×1R(G=1R)
K1R1=K2R2 as cell constant is same.
1.2×100=K2×500
K2=0.24sm1
we know, Λm=KC
Λm=0.24sm10.2mol/dm3
Λm=0.24scm1×100.2mol/cm3
Λm=125cm2mol1
