Back in the village, milk was not pasteurized and therefore grandma had to boil it to make it free from microbes. But when milk comes in packs, it has undergone a process called pasteurization. This process heats up milk at 70 celsius for few seconds and then cools it down suddenly. Due to this difference in temperature, the microorganisms present in the milk are inactivated or dead and the milk becomes suitable for direct consumption.
