Callus culture is a type of in vitro plant tissue culture. A plant part that is excised from the original and is used for initiating a culture is called an explant. The explant when grown in a nutrient medium containing plant growth regulators (auxins and cytokinins) undergo cell division which can result in the formation of an organ or callus.
