Question

Solve 4x+6y=15 and 6x8y=14 and hence find 'p' , if y=px2.

Open in App
Solution

The given system of equation is
4x+6y=15 ..(i)

6x8y=14 .(ii)

Multiplying equation (i) by 4 and equation (ii) by 3, we get
16x+24y=60 ..(iii)

18x24y=42 (iv)

Adding (iv) and (iii), we get
34x=102x=3

Putting x=3 in equation (i), we get
12+6y=15y=2

Hence, the solution of the given system of equations is x=3,y=2

Putting x=3,y=2 in y=px2, we get

2=3p2p=4/3.
