Solve the following pair of linear equations by elimination method : 3x + 2y = 8 and 2x – y = 3. [2 MARKS]

Given equations are,

$3x+2y=8\dots \dots \left(i\right)$

$2x-y=3\dots \dots \left(ii\right)$

Equation $\left(ii\right)\times 2\Rightarrow$

$4x-2y=6....\left(iii\right)$

Equation (i) + (iii) gives,

$7x=14$

$\Rightarrow x=2$

Sustituting the value of $x$ in $\left(ii\right)$

$2x-y=3$

$4-y=3$

$\Rightarrow y=1$

$\therefore x=2,y=1$
