$y-2x=1$ and $5y-x=14$

$y-2x=1$ .......$\left(1\right)$

$5y-x=14$ .......$\left(2\right)$

$\left(1\right)\Rightarrow y=1+2x$

Put $y=1+2x$ in $\left(2\right)$ we get

$5(1+2x)-x=14$

$\Rightarrow 5+10x-x=14$

$\Rightarrow 9x=14-5=9$

$\Rightarrow x=\frac{9}{9}=1$

Put $x=1$ in $\left(1\right)$ we get

$y-2\times 1=1$

$\Rightarrow y-2=1$

$\Rightarrow y=1+2=3$

$\therefore x=1$,$y=3$
