State five qualities of potable water.

Potable water - The water that is fit for human consumption is called potable water.

The potable water must have the following qualities:-

1. It should be colourless and clear.
2. It should be free from any type of odour or smell.
3. It should have a small or required amount of dissolved salts necessary for human health and it gives water a slight taste.
4. It should have dissolved gases like oxygen, these gases give water freshness.
5. It should be free from all types of germs and bacteria to avoid any diseases.
