The heartbeat refers to the rhythmic contraction and relaxation of the atria and ventricles.
The origin of the heartbeat starts from a particular region in the heart called the sinoatrial (SA) node.
SA node is found in the upper part of the right atrium.
The main function of the sinoatrial node:
SA node act as the pacemaker by initiating impulses that spread through the walls of the atria and, after a short delay, through the ventricular walls via the atrioventricular (AV) node.
