When dilute hydrochloric acid is added to sodium carbonate crystals

When HCl is added to sodium carbonate crystals, CO2 gas is released. We get the brisk effervescence of CO2 gas. It is a colourless and odourless gas with turns lime water milky. If a glowing splint is brought near to CO2 gas it will extinguish.
