Solution

The correct option is B Statement 1 is incorrect but Statement 2 is correct.
Guru Tegh Bahadur, the father of Guru Gobind Singh, was executed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb for his defiance to convert to Islam. This made Guruji realise the need to defend the Sikh faith. He created a Sikh brotherhood to fight his enemies and social injustice. It was called Khalsa, which means pure. Guruji managed to organise a strong army in a short span of time. His initiatives and efforts to militarise the Sikhs earned him the title of the 'Soldier Saint'. Thus, the Statement 1 is incorrect but the Statement 2 is correct.
