Surrogate mother:
Surrogacy is a type of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in which a woman bears and delivers a child for another couple. Such a female carrying the child is called a surrogate mother.
In one type of surrogacy, the surrogate mother is artificially inseminated with the sperm of the intended father.
In another type of surrogacy, the ova from the wife and sperms from the husband are subjected to in vitro fertilisation, and the resulting embryo is implanted in the surrogate mother.
In GIFT (Gamete intra fallopian transfer), the ovum from the donor is transferred into the fallopian tube of a woman who cannot produce the female gametes.
