Let the highest score be xm and
the lowest score be x0
Given that highest score exceeds lowest score by 16
xm=x0+16xmx0=16 ————(1)

Coefficient of range is given by xmx0xm+x0

Given that coefficient of range is 13

xmx0xm+x0=13 ———(2)

Substitute (1) in (2) we get

16xm+x0=13

xm+x0=16×3=48

Therefore sum of the highest score and lowest score is 48
