The length of the diagonal of a rectangle is 40 cm. If the length of its shorter side is 24 cm, find the area of the rectangle(in cm2).

Open in App
Solution

Let the length of the diagonal be d and sides of the rectangle be a and b

Thus, d2=a2+b2
402=242+b2
1600=576+b2
1024=b2
b=32cm
Length of longer side = 32 cm
Area of rectangle = length X breadth
Area of rectangle = 32×24
Area of rectangle =768 cm2
