Uterus:

  1. Uterus is a hollow, pear-shaped organ located in the pelvic region.
  2. It is also know as womb.
  3. There is a single uterus in the female body where the baby grows and develops.
  4. Uterine wall is made up of three muscular layers: Endometrium, Myometrium and Perimetrium .
  5. The muscular walls of the uterus should be elastic because as the baby grows it requires more space.
  6. So the uterus should be able to expand sufficiently and accommodate the growing baby.
