24 cm

Side of first square = $\frac{40}{4}$ = 10 cm;

Side of second square = $\frac{32}{4}$ cm = 8 cm.

Area of third square = $\left[\right(10{)}^2–\left(8{)}^2\right]$ $c{m}^2$ = (100 – 64) $c{m}^2$ = 36 $c{m}^2$ .

Side of third square = $\sqrt{36c{m}^2}$ = 6 cm.

Required perimeter = (6 $\times$ 4) cm = 24 cm.
