Solution

Step 1: Find the radius and height of the cylinder.

Let, r,h be the radius and height of the cylinder respectively.

Given that, curvedsurfaceareaofcylindertotalsurfaceareaofcylinder=12, totalsurfacearea=616cm2

The curved surface area of cylinder of radius r and height h =2πrh

The total surface area of a cylinder of radius r and height h =2πrr+h

Given that, curvedsurfaceareaofcylindertotalsurfaceareaofcylinder=12

2πrh2πrr+h=122h=r+hr=h

Now, we know 2πrr+h=616cm2

2πrr+r=616cm24πr2=616cm2r2=49cm2r=7cm

So, r=h=7cm

Step 2: Find the volume of cylinder:

The volume of cylinder of radius r and height h =πr2h

=πr3=227×73=1078cm3

Therefore, volume of cylinder is 1078cm3.
