The ratio of the ages of A and B is 5:3. After 7 years ratio of their ages would be 6:5. What is the sum of A and B’s present ages?

The correct option is D 8
Let’s assume present ages of A and B are A and B respectively. Now, ratio of their present ages is 5:3.
Thus, (A/B) = (5/3)
Or 3A = 5B ……(i)
After 7 years, ages of A and B would be A+7 and B+7 respectively.
But we know that ratio of their ages after 7 years = 6/5
Thus, (A+7)/(B+7) = 6/5
Or 5A + 35 = 6B + 42 …..(ii)
From equations (i) and (ii), we get:
A = 5 and B = 3.
Thus, A + B = 8.
Hence correct option is (d)

मान लीजिए कि A और B की वर्तमान आयु क्रमशः A और B हैं।
अब, उनकी वर्तमान आयु का अनुपात 5 : 3 है।

या 3A = 5B (i)
